No, you don't have to sex it, but growing from seed there is a 50/50 chance of getting male or a female. Sexing saves a lot of time too. If you don't sex, you could be growing a plant that might not be useful for smoking when you finally know the sex.

Personally, I don't take clones and sex them. I grow from seed though, but I have a foolproof way of getting a female from seed almost everytime. The last 6 grows i've done have all been from seed, and have all turned out to be female.

The key is not put the growing plant under any extreme stress, and NO light leaks at all. No stress means no overwatering, and no overfeeding. Only light stress like Topping the plant, or LST or using the FIM technique.

And 0 light leaks as well. My grow cab. is 100% sealed and no light peaks through the sides. Another thing growers do is they like to check on their plants when the light is off, that is a no no. When the light is off for those 6 or 12 hours, it must stay off the entire time, and no outside light should be coming into your grow area.

In other words, just take care of your plants really well and things will turn out good.
