I use cf l's for side lighting but in my last grow i used just wall mart stuff . wall mart space blankets wall mart fans wall mart 26wt cf l's wall wart 43 wt cf l's and wall mart organic nutes and wall mart soil. i got on average 1.5 -2.5 ounces per plant. it was just for scientific purposes to show the youngsters here you can grow with no money. it is to bad the thread was closed before i could finish it i have the final pics but i Will not post them because i am a dick head who sometimes holds a grudge. cf l's are great for your first grow. i thought of switching but the electricity costs that i saved from not using my mh and hps was quickly eaten up by the long duration it took to finish flowering the bud. it was real fun though.
the yeag Reviewed by the yeag on . cfl vs yield When you use cfls do you get very much of a yield or is it pretty crappy.Im upgrading to a 250 watt hps soon but right now i got one plant flowering under cfl's and it doesnt look like there is much there. So if any of you have grown wit cfl's wats the average yield? And what will it be around with my new 250 Watt hps? i forgot alot of what you said amount of plants and such. you only have enough lights for one -two plants. here is an idea that will help maximize your yield. make a scrog screen homemade take take either one or two metal hangers depending on the dimension of your box. bend them around the perimeter and secure it to it then weave fishing line or thread or dental floss into squares like a checkerboard . weave your plants through the scrog screen this will keep all your buds sites at the same level move your lighting down to the new canopy height, and you must resist picking buds to test. just wait tell it is done. do this you will be thanking us later show me some pics if you do the scrog screen , and i will help you further.

dude one plant is great. i just told you how to make the screen. come on man i am not the best communicater but lets say you have a grow box that is a rectangle take a metal coat hanger apart mold it to the shape of your box make the checker board and weave your plant so it is coming out of the pot about 6 inches then turns abruptly sideways and continues to grow horizontal. if you cant understand that just do what ya gotta do...if your not handy use sick pack soda rings and tie them together. this is not as good but should work. i gotta go you really make me tired. sorry bro i cannot help ya anymore. go search scrog or sog growing dont worry about the particulars make the little fucker like i told ya and just cram your plant on through you wont hurt her. remember it is a damn weed.

alright lets get started every one disses floro for quality and yield. ive grown clone to bud on floros before and the only problem i had was density the buds were fluffy but they yield and potency were there
i had a 2foot deep 4 foot wide and 6' tall area that had 8 4foot tubes across the top and 12 going top to bottom around the sides thats 1000watts of 50watt floros and they did well enuff in 4months i had 6 monsters i had to put 4 of em out side cus there wasnt enuff room to let em finish budding cus i didnt flower em soon enuff it was my first grow but the 2 i finished under the floros yielded about 8oz a piece and so did the rest out side but took 2 months longer
long story short floros will produce a flufly less dense weed in my experience and running 1000watts of floro is not a effecient watt per lumen as a hid but i got em for a couple bucks a pice and figured 1000watts for 60bucks i couldnt go wrong.
floros dont really have the penatration so ya gotta make sure ya got ya plants covered top to bottom side to side unless ya gunna sog or scrog

I was wondering what kind of fixture to use for a compact fluorescent thats 42watts. If I was going to use a 105 watt light would I need to have a different fixture than the one for 42 watt. I'm pretty sure you can use a regular socket but I'm not sure. Also can you use a timer for CFL's.:rasta:

all light fixtures are rated diffrently the most common ones are 40w 60w 100w 150w in the medium base like an "a-type" light bulb but ive seen em as high as 4000watts @ 10000 volts for mogal (the giant hid base) ya just gotta make sure you base is rated for the wattage/voltage your using ...
on another note im a big fan of 48" 8 bulb bathroom vanity fixtures there like 15-25 bucks depending on quality and finish there rated for 60w bulbs so they have no problem takin the 42watt cfls so thats like 300watts for 30-50 bucks after bulbs and wire
