Well, actually, you are entirely wrong. In elections in November of 2005, Denver citizens, in a city-wide election, legalized personal possession of an ounce or less. However, it was just a city decision, and not a state one.

Because the state is the stricter law, however, it is the one that most police officers, as well as district attorneys and other legal personnel, choose to abide by. Some police officers have decided to follow city law, and have been just warning people that if anyone else had seen them it would be a problem.

Someone said that city cops can't bust you, but this is wrong. They certainly can, because they can choose to use the state law. Most still will bust you, cause they are cops, but some can choose not to.

An adaption of the amendment was on the November 2006 ballot, for the entire state, but it did not pass.
