keeping light same height?

what would happen if i kept my light the same height, about 20 in above plant, would the plant grow into the light?

Do you mean you put the light 20 inches above the plant now, and never move it? If so, your plant will get heat stress then grow into the light.

or would the plant slow its growth and become more compact?

if you want a compact plant you want high light intensity

i have not raised my light and i am getting alot of secondary growth. thinking about raising it to get more vertical growth with the secondary growth.

i doubt he'll bleach his plants.

my advice. Keep your light as close as possible; it keeps the intensity high which will keep the internodes small (good).

The only reason I would raise my light is because the top of the plant is getting to hot and getting heat stress.
