overall cost of my set up was only 150.00... 100.00 for the speakers themselves, 30.00 for the sound card you'll need if you dont' have a 5.1+ compatible sound card in your comp already (trust me you'll know if you don't...) and the extra 20 is for taxes and what not... lol... i have 7.1, which is 7 speakers (3 for each side, a center speaker and a sub woofer o.0!) i love my set up.... i can rattle anything in my house.

btw i doubt i could find the post of it before, it was a good while ago and i dont' even remember any key words or the title... so if it's that far gone, might as well post it again... not like any new members would stumble across it, and it is pretty damn trippy.
