NFL Draft!
Green Bay
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
1 16 Justin Harrell DT Tennessee
Pat Kirwan's Analysis
I had Justin Harrell going somewhere at this point in the draft because when he regained his health, it demonstrated to the NFL -- with the 35 reps on the bench -- NFL personnel people went back and looked at 2005 game tapes and convinced themselves he was a first-round selection because he has a unique ability to disengage from blockers and make plays in the backfield.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
2 63 Brandon Jackson RB Nebraska
Gil Brandt's Analysis
Jackson has a chance to be the real surprise of this draft, as far as running backs go. He reminds me of Frank Gore and Rudi Johnson. A three-year player at Nebraska who left a year early, he's a complete back. He's a real good receiver; you don't have to take him out in passing situations.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
3 78 James Jones WR San Jose State
Gil Brandt's Analysis
Jones is a tall wide receiver and he runs a 4.54. He's strong (22 reps) and he had a big season last year (70 catches). He makes the short catches that keeps the chains moving.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
3 89 Aaron Rouse SS Virginia Tech
Gil Brandt's Analysis
Rouse (6-4, 223; 4.46) was a former linebacker who was moved to safety. He's a straight-ahead type of runner. I'm not sure he can play safety and can turn and run to cover a receiver, despite his speed.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
119 Allen Barbre OT Missouri Southern State
Gil Brandt's Analysis
He went to a small high school, then redshirted at Missouri Southern before becoming a four-year starter. Barbre (6-4, 300) ran a 4.64 and had 28 reps. For a player coming out of an NCAA Division II school that doesn't have a weight program, 28 reps is pretty encouraging -- he can really improve on that in an NFL weight program.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
157 David Clowney WR Virginia Tech
Gil Brandt's Analysis
I thought Clowney (6-0 1/4, 188) he had a chance to be a Day 1 pick. He reminds you of Torry Holt. (Clowney looked like a pencil at the Combine.) He's got 4.33 speed, but had only 34 catches and no touchdowns. Heā??s got pretty good hands.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
6 191 Korey Hall ILB Boise State
Gil Brandt's Analysis
Heā??s a dynamo with 4.73 speed. Heā??s a tremendously aggressive guy. Iā??m not sure if he will get any playing time at linebacker, but I think he will be a great special-teams player.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
6 192 Desmond Bishop ILB California
Gil Brandt's Analysis
He has been an inside linebacker, but his best position in the NFL probably will be as an inside linebacker. He has 4.72 speed. He made 126 tackles last season, including 15 for a loss.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
193 Mason Crosby K Colorado
Gil Brandt's Analysis
I picked him for the Playboy All-America team. There was some concern about his credentials because he kicked at altitude, but on a steamy day in September 2005 at Miami , he kicked a 58-yard field goal -- the longest ever in NCAA history at sea level off grass without a tee. He really needs to change his kicking technique. If he finds a good special-teams coach, he can make the change and be successful.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
228 DeShawn Wynn RB Florida
Gil Brandt's Analysis
He was an outstanding HS player in Ohio. He's 5-10 3/8, ran 4.50. He's a runner more than a receiver. He gained 700 yards and scored 6 touchdowns last year.
Rd Sel# Player Pos. School
243 Clark Harris TE Rutgers
Gil Brandt's Analysis
He's 6-5 1/2, 261 and ran a 4.80. He has good hands but needs to improve his blocking. He had 34 catches for 2 TDs in 2006.

NFL Draft!
Tampa Bay had a solid draft. More help for the O-Line, the immediate impact of Gaines Adams, and a nice looking strong safety
Although I still wish the Lions would have left us Calvin Johnson

NFL Draft!
Damn I wanted Calvin Johnson us (Tampabay Bucs) to streingth our O line and try and get us out of the barn. I mean were in need of a D line but our O line is on there way out. Cadillac Williams, Joey Galloway, Michael Clayton, Chirs Simms , Jeff Garcia all giants of yore and now were reduced to picking scraps of the draft room floor.I mean I'm glad we got early pics but with our tendency to balance contracts correctly were kinda fucked.

Anyway, Tampa against Seattle in Week 1. Can't wait!!!
