Yellow tips turn to brown. I'm back with pictures.
Greetings folks.
It's been awhile. I hope everyone is well.
I decided not to correspond for a while for various reasons, but here I am again. I just couldnā??t bare to stay away any longer. During my previous engagement with this forum I did grow rather fond of some of you, and I missed you during my absence. For that reason, as well as some others, I am back on a trial basis.
Another reason I am back is I was hoping to get a little help. As you can see from the photos, most of my leaf tips are turning brown, then the tips down the edge of the leaf start turning yellow. Any ideas people?
Donā??t laugh; yes those plants are in soil. These were the last two survivors of my AK47ā??s. (Donā??t ask) They were planted out in the woods, and I brought them in to reveg. I just kind had them hibernating through winter with flouros.
Now I hate to bring up a sore spot, but here we go: Guess what came along with these plants when I brought them inside? Anyone? Thatā??s right. Spider mites. Guess how I killed them. Thatā??s right. A No Pest Strip.
Well the reason the photos are kinda sucky is because they are under HPS and I quickly tried to get the red out in Photoshop. Just for fun I included an untouched one.
Thanks for any input, and itā??s great to be back.Opie Yutts Reviewed by Opie Yutts on . Yellow tips turn to brown. I'm back with pictures. Greetings folks. It's been awhile. I hope everyone is well. the contorting leaves can be a sign of too high ph which in turn could cause various nutrient lockouts which could be causing the leaf damage. as you pointed out, the hps makes the pics a ittle difficult to see properly but i still think high ph could be a possibility and that is easy enough to test. if i were you i would check the ph(if you haven't already) before adding anything to try to correct any defficiencies. if you do find out that it is a defficiencie a product i have had alot of luck with is mineral matrix from bio-genisis, it's 100% organic and seems to work great in correcting alot of micronutrient defficiencies. i hope this could be of some help to you. good luck opie!

Thanks, I will check my PH tomorrow. I think I got a soil test kit about 4 years ago and never used it. Now which pile of junk is it under?

Ya, check our pH and if that isn't the problem i would think that maybe you have a phosphorus deficiency. Refer to this chart: Grow Marijuana FAQ, Cannabis cultivation - marijuana growing tips & photos

try using a meter or chemical test instead. just ph some water to 7 and water your plants. catch the first bit of runoff and test it. if it's above 7 the your ph is to high. you want it to be around 5.8-6.3 for soilless or a little higher for soil

Thanks deft, that's a great abuse chart. It was orginally on overgrow, and I could not find it for awhile after they went under. Now I have that bookmarked, as everone should, from a few different web sources.
Justa, I didn't know you could do it that way. I've never heard of it, but then I'm really a hydro farmer. Is it really as accurate as testing the soil?

it's actually alot more acurate than soil testers which are notorious for giving inacurate ph readings.

Thanks. I will give that a try. Especially since I spent the last hour cleaning and looking for that darn soil ph test kit.

I did the run off test and it was 6.69 (kind of a cool number). I guess that's right where you want it to be, right? I mean I don't need to try to change anything, do I?
I was wondering about my tap water, which is what I have been giving them to drink. I checked the PH and it was 7.71. Could this be causing the plants harm by watering with such a high number? If the soil is supposed to be 6.8, then I assume anything else they consume should also be that number. I guess just to be safe until I hear differnt, I will start to PH my plan'ts drinking water to 6.8 or 7. I assume it's not critical, but I'm not sure. I'm just a hydro farmer. Do most of you soil growers make sure your plants' drinking water is PH'd? I never thought of it before today for some reason. I guess that's because I've always watered house plants with straight tap water. Oh, by the way I use well water.
Thanks for any suggestions.
