I have a 175 watt mercury vapor lamp. Is it possible to put a 175 watt HPS bulb in it?

No, I don't believe so.
To run an HPS bulb you need to get an HPS ballast.

I was at lowes and they have MH ,MV and HPS I want a HPS the lamp they hve there is 75 watt and 100 watt and 175 watt but they sell 175 watt and 400 watt bulbs.
I want a 400 watt hps system.I do not condone the illegal use of any substance. I do not grow marijuana however the posts I place here are for informational purposes only nothing more nothing less.

if you go to the pro desk at home depot or lowes they have warehouses full of shit thats not in the store that they can order for you i got my 1000w mh bulbs from hd for like 50 a piece have a good reason and know what kind you want they probably can get a high bay a low bay or a spot/flood/security light
