The earliest you can plant outdoors is after the last frost of the season... so probably around April for you. You can't just leave them alone though. Especially when they're young you have to keep an eye on them to check their water/nutrient needs. You even have to water them when they're older, most likely.

If you plant mid-summer your plants won't be as big (good idea for trying to attract as little attention as possible) and you'll get less yield.... but still a nice yield. A lot depends on what soil you use, nutrients you use, water, sunlight, etc. too, remember.

i suggest you plant some in april as jsn said. but just in case those are found for being big and noticable i suggest you plant another set somewhere else around mid summer. just in case. and cannabis plants are like babies. they need to be taken care of to not die.

im from kentucky and my neck of the woods has hard clay for dirt so that i dont wanna try and fix. but we got a abundance of bat poo, cow poo, and everybody has a compost pile of plant matter and paper. if i use the compost with pearlite and bat poo would that work well?

I live in TN, so I'm pretty close to you. Here is what I do.
Turn the soil in the beggining of April and add some 3-4 month time released 20-20-20 fertilizer.
Plant in mid-late April (directly in the ground). I do it near a creek bed, so I have a water supply near by, plus the soil is not as much clay, and has some sand in it.
Care for them through the dry summer. Also, topp them a few time to bush them out.
In August add some 2 month time released bloom ferts.
Continue to care for them as they flower.
Sometime between the end on Sept. and the begging of Nov. they will be ready to harvest.
