    Asshole plant with yellow spots

    Heya greenjeans!
Get your N number down to half or less of the veg fert you were using.
If you're stuck with that stuff, yeah, you could dilute it but then you are also losing out on micronutrients etc.
Are you on city water? If so, your water should not be causing pH problems. The city sends it out close to neutral to avoid corroding the pipelines. Almost guaranteed it's a soil problem.

Umm, the PH out of my tap water is off the scale, ++9, and it's city water. N overdose usually shows with a burned and crusty outter edge of the leaves. Spots starting from the center and working out are usually a sign of PH being off-kilter, in my experience.

Heya yerself Miss Foxy! In my growlog, I mentioned that I did a little research, and found out the water in my particular neighborhood comes from a particular reservoir, and the average pH is 7.8. However, I called the company that manufactures the largest part of the soil mix I am using, and they say their product has a pH of 5.5. When I tested my runoff and soil they read 6.8-6.9. I'm guessing they're balancing each other out.

Schultz has a couple of different formulas. What do you think of the 5-30-5?

The old man has a migraine and is passed out cold. I'm considering ordering the fancyschmancy organic stuff that Stinky Attic mentioned, and then confessing later.

I have to agree with Zandor here and call it a PH problem. Lack of micro nutes and minerals just don't cause such problems in every day life , especially in a plant only a few months old from birth to harvest. If those were mine and I saw such damage I'd invest $22 in a Brita Water Filter. It's a miracle tool made for us that changes bad tap water into a wonderful elixer of life!

Thanks for the input Madeline! I should get one of those anyway, just on principle. I rarely drink water, cause I hate the way it smells and tastes. Like a compost pile with bleach in it. I need to drink more water, and I am more likely to do it if it's filtered. Right now I'm spending too much on bottled water for drinking.

ROFL you have like self-balancing water!!! That 5.5 number is showing up in that spotty thing. You probably have a pocket in there that didn't get enough lightener and the roots are just reaching it now, but the water isn't running through it properly. You could always stick the whole pot in a bucket of water and let it soak for a little while, then drain it out and see if things stop gettting worse.

Not too bad, and better if you can get a source of potassium in there to protect the plants from disease.

I believe I will try soaking it. It's time for scheduled flushings anyway.

you can use granite dust to add instant potassium, bananas are good in home made mulch, and the simple solution (if you hadn't transplanted already) would be potash.

hi stinky, i'm back for a while... til i get called out again, lol

do you have a mulch barrel? if not, a large screen about two feet off the ground will work. this takes about a year, but is well worth it, imo.

basically, you throw your plant trash (ie, grass, hedge clippings, old veggies, fruits...) in the barrel or on the screen. the key is aeration and agitation. mix about once a week, the compost will rot, and you'll end up with very fertile mulch.

keep in mind that 100% mulch is too hot for pot plants. mix about half and half with a good potting soil or soiless mix (perlite, vermiculite)

i've been composting for more than 15 years now if you forget about it for six months, no sweat!, just mix and let sit and mix again, and you're good to go.

if you do the screen thing, your final product will be what falls under the screen. you can scoop it out with a shovel.

Ohhh, a compost pile! LOL! I have one of those. Two actually. Sorry, I thought you were talking about something else. Brain fart on my behalf.
Right now my compost pile is under 8 inches of snow and ice. I live in the midwest.
