"The evidence did not support any of the allegations of mistreatment or harassment," the Miami-based Southern Command, which oversees Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in southeastern Cuba, said in a statement.

Investigators conducted 20 interviews with "suspects and witnesses," the Southern Command said. Bassett did not interview any detainees, said Jose Ruiz, a Miami-based command spokesman.

"He talked to all the parties he felt he needed to get information about the allegations that were made," Ruiz said by telephone from Miami.

Bassett's findings were approved by Adm. James Stavridis, the head of the Southern Command.

Not condoning anything but the guards are human and they know the prisoners and their cohorts are killing fellow soldiers so i am sure the guards patience is thin and they do a lot to keep from b-slapping them on a reglar basis but they are human and things happen. Is there some type of abuse sure but if you don't want a tune up don't fly planes into innocent people

We are what? Able to steal land from Cuba? Why not open Gitmo on US soil? Northern Alaska.. no need for all that much heavy security in the winter as anyone who escapes is gonna just die from extreme cold. Maybe re open Alcatraz Prison and have people on tours still to foot the bill.

most of the people there at gitmo were just sheepherders, who got wrapped up for money, most of have been let out... maybe if they plant sum weed on them they can get a conviction
