Mothers: Soil or Hydro???

thats cool you started a thread about this. I myself have just taken clones from our hydro girlies and was pretty decided on doing soil in our little grow chamber with fluourescent lights. Can someone recommend a good pot size just big enough to sustain a small - medium sized mother capable of taking two clones from every 2.5 months or so? That would be very helpful thanks.

A 2 liter pot will be fine, but you will need to take cuttings about once a month so the plant does not out grow the pot.

Oh really? see that was my other question. I was under the impression that the plant would just stay that size and not be able to grow any further than the pot and make it really manageable. But the thought of taking cuttings every few months or so had crossed my mind.

I get around that by keeping my mothers in soil AND very small. They are actually living in 4.5 inch pots. The plan before I bailed was to keep them there for a few months, and then flower them, retaining a set of clones from each that would become donors themselves. This method avoids soil problems such as salts and rootbound. It's what subcool does too. But you have to be confident in your cloning ability.

ya, somewhere in the back of my mind I was thinking that rather than adding different nutes and trying to go around having a healthy root stock, I would just flower the mothers and then get clones off them right before. By the way I am very confident in my cloning abilities. =)

I think I like the coco cubes method best... Quicker growing and I can just water with my veg nutes.

I have never had any luck with indoor soil!!!
