Mothers: Soil or Hydro???
Keep the gurl in soil. She will produce just as good of a cutting at 1/10th the cost to keep her in a hydro state of mind!

Mothers: Soil or Hydro???
what do you guys think about keeping a mom in coco coir ?
bluebears really pricked my intrest w/ this stuff . i'm about to embark into the world of cloning and was thinking about putting a mom in a spare waterfarm and use coco coir as medium and just top feed every cpl. days . the bottom res. portion of waterfarm could catch the runoff .
peace guys

Mothers: Soil or Hydro???
yea i would deff. ask him, i would jsut put it in its own bucket or somethin, i belive he only watered the coco once a day or every other day, it was like soil but has alot of air in the medium. I would stick with soil or soil like coco with alot of airation in the roots with low maintenance. no hydro they grow fast and are high maintenece and over time fluctuate conditions. ahhh i just read ur ful post crisp, um yeah that would work pretty well but the roots grow down into that bottom part dont they, wouldnt u be using alot less coco it would only be in the top half, i would get a nice size bucket, layer the bottom with hydroton, and then put all coco in, make sure it has holes at the bottom obvously, and just time how long it takes to water and have your pump turn off, have it turn on when it gets dry.

i always do my mothers in soil...its often easier than tryin to keep them pipe'd into the hydro set-up.= low maintanence.

one of my past caregivers now a friend for life , has family that have the craziest stuff imaginable jack . he told me today he was bringing me a rooted clone of some stuff that smelled like "mr. clean" i'm prayin to god it's a clone of subcools strain "jacks cleaners" man . can you say new clone mom in coco coir . i'm geeked man .

I must of hurd my name being called, LOL. Well, if you keep a mom in coco you will probably experience allot of growth so be prepared to take allot of clones. It is easier than hydro, but more work than soil in some parts and this is why. Coco generally needs a nute feeding almost every watering IMO and I suppose you could always set aside some solution from your veging plant aside to water the coco mom with, but for some people this may get old. On the other hand I find that many hydro growers just do this, put a mom in a 3 or 5 gallon pot with some Shultz all purpose potting soil and just water with PH adjusted water and can keep a mom like this for a year. If any defs occur then just use something like clearex to leach the soil. The trade off between this and coco is, in coco you can use smaller pots for bigger moms, but you need to water and feed more, while in soil you need bigger pots, but you just need to water. I think that in coco with moms you could probably get away with watering every couple days and do fine too.
Hope this helps guys/fellow growers.
