It worked both times for me. I wonder if some of the symbols change when you try again. There are a lot of duplicates and only looked at on at a time and the few I tried were always the same.
I have never been strong in math though, I'm guessing it is based on some kind of formula. I saw something similar to this on one of those magic shows on t.v. like 7 years ago.

Uh yeah, if this isn't working for you guys then your math is off. It's based on a mathematical property. Don't scroll down if you want it spoiled.
Basically, when you do the equation listed (Take any 2 digit number greater than 9, add both digits of the number and then subtract it from the original number), no matter what the solution will be a multiple of nine. Look.
10: 1+0=1. 10-1=9
11: 1+1=2. 11-2=9
12: 1+2=3. 12-3=9
etc...
10-19 ~ 9
20-29 ~ 18
30-39 ~ 27
So what, you say? Well, look at the game. No matter how many times you refresh it, the multiples of 9 all share the same symbol, although the symbol may change. See?

Yeah, not impressive...and I'll tell you why.
I chose 22, 2+2=4, 22-4=18. So 18 was my number. But then I chose some other ones, like 90. which gave me 81...which had the same fucking symbol as 18. Then I kept choosing, after 5 fucking tries they all had the same goddamn symbol.
Not to say there isn't a way for it to fail, but theres probably like a real high chance it will work...so its just a trick.
edit: I so wrote my post before leebstatus...

Funny...it worked the first 2 times I tried...
Then I tried again and did the math pretty fast and sloppy...didn't "concentrate" on any number before I clicked...didn't work.
Then I did it again and did it right...worked again...Hold on...
Yep, worked again...
Hmmm...very curious...I dig math, and know it is probably based on math somehow...but how does it know? How?! HOW?!
TELL ME, MARY...now...please. I DEMAND TO KNOW!
The Fog :rastasmoke:
J/k....I know how...

Ooooh that thing. Yea it works because there are only a certain amount of numbers you can actually get when you do it. The pictures change every time and all the numbers that you could possibly get when you take a 2 digit number add them then subract it from the original number all have the same symbol.
For example if you pick 23 as your number. You end up with 18. You find 18 on the symbol chart and its lets say a cross. You click the crystal ball and it shows the cross. The next time look at 18 again. It will have a different symbol but it will be the symbol that the ball shows. All the numbers you can get will have the same picture so its always right
