We have over 1,000 per grade in my high school. The only way we get randomly tested is if you're in a sport or a club, and you have to fill out a form and hand it in. You can get piss tested for falling asleep in class though, if the teacher chooses. And once you fail a drug test you're suspended, you need to go thru drug counseling and then once you come back to school they test you on two seperate times and you have to pass both of them. If you refuse you get suspended because you've already signed a form agreeing.

We used to have smoking lounges, back in the 90's...now we go to the sidewalk right by my school JUST where school grounds end. Except every day 2 security trucks drive by and a few times a month a cop stops by and writes up citations to the defiant kids who don't move.

Although my HS has three different buildings and a library, so if we want to smoke cigarettes we can just smoke them in between classes (A 10-15 min period).

My school is way harsh on weed and other drugs though...DUMB!

Times have changed. Back when I was in high school we actually had OPEN lunches, meaning you were allowed 50 minutes to leave school, go where ever for lunch (Taco Bell, Mickey D's, etc..) and return for the rest of the day. Eventually, more and more students would leave and not return so they CLOSED the lunch period...but it was nice at the time.

That was the same with us. At lunch, we were allowed to leave property. They even had a smoke pit for the smokers, and we had bush covering the entire perimeter of the school, so sometimes we'd sneak out back and toke one. Hell, kids even used to drink in the parking lot on a Friday afternoon.

I wish I could remeber what part of the States this is happening. Boston area is coming to mind, but I'm not sure. All I know is that I saw it on the news last night, with the principal saying it's okay to random test, and the opposing side saying it was an invasion of privacy.

I have seen the same kind of posts every so often on this forum in Experiences, so it has begun at some schools.

They mentioned it was the Bush Administration conducting these tests to stop the War on Drugs.

I was watching CNN last night, for some strange reason, and somewhere in the States they had the principal of a high school talking about giving urine tests to the students. What they do is test for drugs and alcohol, at random. They call someone out of class, make you piss in a cup, then it goes for basic testing through the school, then it gets shipped off for more advanced testing at a facility.

I just want you to know I feel for you youngens having to live with this. I think I may understand the frustrations that I see coming from the young kids. This is a total invasion of ones privacy, and I don't see how giving students piss tests, have anything to do with learning and getting an education.

I do have one question though, what if you refuse a test? What would happen? I'm just curious, that's all.

All I know, is back in my day, if someone told me to piss in a cup, I would be, Fuck and You. 2 wonderful words put together to form an insulting comment. :S4:

I've been piss tested. Generally, they can only piss test you if you are in some sort of extra-curricular activity. At my school however, since it is a technical institute they signed everyone up for "skillz usa" which is a competition thing that only like 3 people from each school can actually go to. So, our entire school is subjected to drug tests because of that fucking absurd loop hole they found.

What happened when I failed (lucky me, I wake'd and bake'd the morning of the test...) is they made me take 5 one hour sessions at this place, which was about stress and completely irrelevant. I get tested every time they do randoms now. If I fail a second time, I have to go to a rehab thing I guess, with 20 sessions and it will be way worse. 3rd time, I think I'll just get kicked out.

Obviously it pisses me off and I fail to see the relevance, but we all know drug testing is complete bullshit to begin with.

I'm not joking when I say this, but if they bagan random drug testing throughout the school there would be a protest by students. But at my school random drug testing for the football team doesn't even work due to the fact half the team is on steroids

I don't think that public schools can do that. Shit, I went to a private school, and they didnt even test because they knew that 3/4 of the school would fail. If a school told me that I would take it to the school board; it would get overturned. That shit would cost a lot of money.
