well considering that this is a cannabis forum and matisyahu openly puts marijuana down.... well... i dont listen to matisyahu for that reason, although i like his band but i wont listen to him but that is my opinion and i also think that there is one billion times more reggae that is much much better

Live at stubbs is the best. He really has no songs dissin marijuana in that CD and his live preformance is amazing. Matisyahu doesn't like weed because it is a drug and drugs are bad. to him. cause hes orthodox jew.

His music doesn't talk shit about weed at all. It's more related to Hadidic Judaism, about spirituality, and joy. He made it clear his anti-ganja views in interviews, you gotta respect his rights. His music is positive and has deep meaning if you shed such a materialistic view about an artist.

Personally he isn't my favorite reggae artist, but the man gets my respect.

yeah his band is great but he is just a gimmick sorry guys but he is.
he is exploiting his religion by dressing up and rapping.
he is no different to me than marilyn manson.
and he does talk against marijuana in his songs
"If you're trying to stay high then you're bound to stay low"
well i get high and it doesnt keep me down, to me this is like him saying that all marijuana users are just fooling themselves and that we shouldnt smoke because it is no good.
i find that to be misleading information and i am against that.

I think the quote "If you're trying to stay high then you're bound to stay low" is very valid. If you let drugs get the best of you in life you will stay low. He also never claims that what he is talking about is marijuana. I also think to say matisyahu is exploiting his religion is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Matisyahu used his religion to find meaning in his life. It gave him the passion to write his music. The popular music scene may use his "white jewish reggae" image as a gimick to sell records but his music comes from the heart.

you may be right it may be the record industry exploiting him but that is the point i am making, he would be nothing without his costume. (i dont mean any disrespect to the jewish community in any means)
some record exec saw him and said wow this will sell.
and in an interview he in fact said he was talking about marijuana.
there is plenty of good reggae who sing about their religion im not against it
matisyahu is lame and thats my opinion but it is a fact what i said about his views on marijuana which is my medicine so i cant listen to him.
its my opinion im just sharing it with you because that is what these forums are for.
