Substitute for canna-butter?

So, I might be making brownies with some friends just to try it out and see what eating is like compared to smoking/vaping, and I was thinking that instead of making canna-butter would taking butter and some ground up bud and putting it in a cup and microwaving it work?

Would this work as a substitute for canna-butter?
