How to tell Parents?`

I got stopped by cops last night with friends, but they didnt find anything.

My one friend went into shock so they assumed he was baked on pills, but then our other friends who work at the shop next door, and my two friends parents came out and cleared it with the cops, but found out we were smoking...I still can't tell if those parents are going to tell my parents, but if they do they wont be bad with it, they'll explain it to them in a good fashion.

But still, wouldn't it be more respectable by my parents if I were to tell them myself, or wait for a parent to tell mine.

I'm also not sure if the cop will call, considering he has all our names, addresses, and numbers. He's a cop from the next town over, not my town. And we're lucky as hell that he didnt search the camera bag with out stuff in it

Anyway..Should I tell my parents or wait? If I do tell, what should I say?

So far i have: Hasn't affected me grade wise, stupid risk on my part, isn't being used as a stress reliever, something to make life better, etc, I'm just using it because I'm having a fun time, and that I'm sorry to disappoint them.

Before you tell your parents....
1) How are your grades since you started? If you are getting good grades, and have since you started, no problem. Tell them after you get a good report card. It's harder for them to argue against a good report card.
2) get together some scientific studies- Current and former marijuana use: preliminary findings of a longitudinal study of effects on IQ in young adults -- Fried et al. 166 (7): 887 -- Canadian Medical Association Journal (a real goodie, if you're a weekend toker! (or can convince your parents you are one-lol) Do some research- does anyone in your family suffer from any diseases like Alzheimer's, MS, osteoporosis, MS, ALS, cancer- run a search on cannabis, abstract, and the disease. If they bring up the "hormone changes" There is a study called "Effects of chronic marijuana use on testosterone, luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone, prolactin and cortisol in men and women" (sorry, don't have the URL, but the title should enough to find it on google)
3) Prepare to present your arguments in a calm and adult manner. Even if THEY blow up, keep calm! They are likely NOT going to like the news that their baby-boy does drugs. They may bring up the "gateway theory", but there has been several studies recently that disspell that myth. Again, google it.

My friends mom called.

My mom peaked in my room, said "We need to have a talk after I get back from Shop Rite." That right there tells me its not her top priority.

She also joked about it before she left, saying my one friend Smells like weed when he gets scared, because I said he got scared at the sight of the cops which is why they thought he was on hardcore shit.

And I just talked to my sister who said my mom doesn't care if I'm a weekend toker, and to hope my dad doesn't find out.

I used 2 have the same problem.

But i would come home high too often that when i felt they were suspecting something i went up to them and told them i was high every time.:S5:

After a while i told them too often that they didn't believe me at times and they stopped getting into my business.:S4:

Now i'm 18 and they can't tell me shit, and my mom is helping me get my medical card so the cop's can't tell me shit if they break into my house.:S2:

I hope this information helps but be careful if you try the same approach as me cuz were not all lucky.

hmm, its always a trick situation when telling your parents for the first time, I told my dad, and he was calm, but completely pissed off, he didnt tell my mom, and he even gave me a few nugs, but he was still pissed and didnt talk to me for weeks. Then I got caught by the cops and when my mom found out, all she could do was cry. My dad, was then even more pissed. I thought he would respect me because I told him, but he didnt and lost so much respect for me. It was wierd, I though he would be proud that I told the truth, but he said "You should have just lied" Now, the are both pissed and they dont trust me at all, my mom has all my money and Ive been grounded for a month now and my mom hasnt told me when she'll un-ground me.

As for the other parents, thats completely up to them if they tell. The only thing that will suck is if you tell them and the other parents dont tell on you and you get in trouble.

Wow

That was the easiest conversation of my life. I'm grounded for a week, and its not even a real grounding. It's like, come home every day after school, don't miss the bus in the morning, and dont piss me off type of thing.

They were more scared that I could have been arrested rather than being angry at me smoking.
