I've had surgeries and I often wonder what is going on inside with the scaring. eek.tootsie roll Reviewed by tootsie roll on . Birdgirl73 We need some good karma. Slip posted this issue before but was deleted because we didn't really have the thumbs up from the family to post it but this is from her hubby: "You can say she's having heart rhythm and heart valve problems and is in the hospital and, we hope, will be released next week." Get well very soon........we all miss ya!:( Rating: 5

I then got a call and had to go back - after midnight. This was a close call - five more hours and it would have been too late - there was no time for a second opinion or doctor-hunting.
After we get the reports, we have to find out what to do about maintenance and prevention - but there really isn't much you can do to actually prevent the adhesions. We're hoping that the fibroid was the main culprit - and not adhesions that will come back. In the past she's had surgeries for myomectomies, a hysterectomy, a non-malignant ovarian tumor (one ovary removed), and an appendix removal during the ovarian surgery because it was extremely inflamed. We think that a fibroid, or endometrial tissue, attached itself to the small intestine and caused the blockage. I took her to the ER 3 months ago for vomiting, but they blamed her symptoms on an anti-inflammatory med she got from a podiatrist - I now think that she had partial blockage at the time, which became complete when she started throwing up bile. This was her worst surgery yet - and the others were not picnics.

by the way, while you're in the hospital don't eat the green jello. no one knows what's in that stuff, but it can't be good.

Hey, guys. Bird sends her love to you all. I took a print-out of this thread up to her at the hospital this morning. She laughed and was thrilled to see it. She's feeling better and is being upgraded to a different room sometime today when one becomes free. May get to come home on Monday. We're feeling relieved that she's looking and breathign a lot better. She's even starting to be interested in food again, too, which is good. Not green jello, though, or blue. She always says that any sort of food product that comes in the same colors as Windex or other cleaning products can't be a good thing.
Thanks for your messages. I'll update this again after I see her later today.
