you wanna prune the lower growth.that is to say all the small spindly branches at the bottom of the plant that hardly receive any light and wont really give you much of anything...trim all that crap off and let the high branches that are receiving proper light(assumeing your using proper light) grow to their fullest potential.there's usually about 4-6 of these tiny little things at the bottom.depending on how you vegged them though and for how long.also species plays into the game here and if you have a purer indica then it's as i said.if it's leaning more on sativa side then sometimes these little branches will be more up in the plants.but just try what i said to be safe and you should be right mate.
