A total bummer all the way around. If she is young and scares easily I'd try a simple threat such as getinng the cops involved or something. She doesn't need to know what the cops have already told you. One other question though; doesn't the insurance company owe you to fix your car no matter what? What if a tree fell on it or something? Do you have to get the first and last name of the tree first also?

I only have liability insurance...so I can only get it fixed if I pay my deductible..and I am not paying that.

My car is a pos anyway I suppose....but it was in good condition...grrr.
