    fixing a glass piece

i recently broke a friends bowl and i am fixing it for him. i want to do a quality job. is there some sort of glue that will make it nicer than just regular super glue? like a special epoxy or something.

Take it to a glass shop, see if they could fix it for you...so it's NICE.

yup what ive done b4 it kinda looks blah but it works is go find out what kind of glass the peice is the buy a rod of it and a mapp gass tourch (use extreme caution) and hold the peice with plieres and "weld" it back together with the glass rod also i would recomend a cooling blanket so it cools slowely and dosent crack ill try to post a pic of a bong i did like that. GL and use all safty precutions (glases gloves or whatever lol) hope it helps

You must be very careful, those torches get hot enough to burn through welding gloves.

Oh hell yes! Glass has a melting point of 2000degC I think I heard once, so yes, that is very hot and will melt your skin in less than a second.

It all depends on where the pipe is broken. If it's in a spot where it gets hot from the flame, then gluing it is something you don't want to do, as the glue will heat up, melt, and there's a good chance you'll be inhaling glue.

If it's on the like the stem part, then you can glue the little pieces back together with ease. Unless it is small shards of glass missing and not chunkc, then your only otion is to go get it fixed by a glass blower, or do it yourself.

I suggest you just your friend a new piece. I mean, you can get a basic glass spoon for $20-$50, sometimes even cheaper. I got a glass spoon the other day for $10. Nothing special, but it still has swirly colors and is glass. Glass is glass man, so I'd just buy him a new pipe.

Buy a new piece, I mean, if my friend broke my pipe, I would not expect him to fucking fix it, lol, glass bowl aren't expensive, you can find a real nice one for less than 20 bucks.

I would prolly offer to go in half on a similar/slightly better piece to one I broke. You get rid of the guilt, your buddy gets a BRAND NEW piece for half price, and at the end of the day, everyone gets high. It's a win-win-win! :bong:
