    HPS vs. CFL's

I am green to growing and am working on a scrog/cab grow. I have already ordered the 250 HPS Hydrofarm.

Would it be beneficial to start the vegging with CFL's? Do I need different lights? I understand the HPS lights are good for flowering, but do I use it from start to finish?

Thanks for your help guys...I'll be posting results and setup soon.

    HPS vs. CFL's

Only speaking from personal exp, but I use a 150w hps. I have done both... vegged w/ the hps from seed and with cfls.

I've noticed that... my observation, which may or not be the difinative truth... The plants respond in the following fashion: HPS from start = faster vegative growth low-mid bud growth. CFL from start to HPS flower = slower veg growth but mid-high bud growth. My hypothesis is that the plants respond more to the increase in lumen during flower.

    Hope it helps

    HPS vs. CFL's

If your in a cab I would suggest using the CFLS to get you started,,, Cuz temps are gonna be a concern when starting. Espically if this is your first grow.

Seedlings and small sprouts like light but not intesnse heat from a HPS. CFLS work well cuz you can get them really close compared to a HPS at this Starting crucial stage of your seedling or sprout.

rember you can always use Cfls and HPS together.

If it were me I would use the Cfls to start the seeds and after about 3 to 4 weeks I would add the Hps then at week 5 or 6 get ready to flower and use Cfls and HPS as long as Heat permits. if you only get one at a time

    Use Cfls Veg hps flower.

My 2 cents... I use all CFLS and get good results. I have to in my cab because of the Heat. Search My name or look for

CFL Grow Cab Log I update often it should be easy to find.
