I am a gamer, and it is too much of a hassle to either have dual boot just to play my games in a windows enviroment, or have to emulate windows inside linux.

I used to keep a shitty old laptop with Red Hat 7 on it for years, but honestly just didnt see the point. Its great for what it is, most definitely, but in a windows dominate world, you really need to have windows installed in order to do alot of things.

SP1 will give a good reason to re-evaluate the OS for most reviewers, and I think by then they will have gotten over their "omg vista is teh debil!" premindset, and they might actually review the OS properly. Really its amazing that the crux of the problems that most people have are fixed with 5 minutes of work, or recognizing that a computer from 4 years ago might not work with a new OS.

XP was a crazy beast of an OS, you could literally run it on a machine running at 16mhz, with less then 2mb of ram. If I could remember the website where they did it at, Id link it, but the OS could really run on almost anything, which was great, but also disillusioned people to needing to buy new hardware to run newer things.

And personally, it took me more time to get XP working the way I wanted it then it did for Vista. Spent alot less time fooling around in the registry after the Vista install then I did with XP. And thank god they stopped the stupid fucking "updates have been installed restart now or later, but by later, we mean that you can click later like 5 times, and then we restart for you" setup.
