Windows Vista
I just tried to order my free vista upgrade and I had trouble with the COP; it wouldn't let me finish, lol. I gotta try again in about three hours. They send it throught the mail, and you have to pay shipping $9.95, but that beats the hell outta 4 bills...

Yea. I'm not gonna be paying that for it anytime soon. After I get my rig upgraded the way I want I may pitch the idea of the upgrade to the work peeps. Maybe they will re-imburse. Prolly not.

It sure is. I know they're not gonna buy a Wii for me, so I gotta try and squeeze some more blood out of the stone one way or the other

I gotta do it before a certain time, or the offer is void, then I'll have to shell out 4 bills just to get it.
What kind of Desktop did you get, man? I got a Gateway GT5224. So far so good. It sure beats my old Dell deminsion, lol!

Why should i join the hoard of Sheep jumping off a cliff
M$ Windoze Vista is a DRM riddled pile of stinking bloatware :toilet_claw:
I have only gone as far as win XP Pro and win2k.
I my self are going for a nice shiny mac pro
I just change/upgrade my computer about every 5-6 years
So i don't mind the expense but vista was the final straw with its
massive overhead on the hardware/DRM :bonghit:
I was a long time windows user but M$ now is realy gone for a crap with this stinker.
I have started playing with a Mac and it seems great for what i need.
Which is recording and mixing music :stoned:
So i will be one of the switch crowdReal Engines Do Not Have Spark Plugs :stoned:

I have it installed on one of my machines at home (I have several
), and I actually like it so far. I dont like the fact that you cant do a "clean" install with an upgrade license.

I read somewhere on digg.com, that you can add flash dirve memory sticks and use it as ram, with the new Vista.

From what I heard, you only get 2 installs with the key that comes with the cd.After that you're shit out of luck if you need to reinstall vista.Gates expects you to shell out a few bills more for a new license key.And the last beta version of Vista looked slick, but was nothing but a resource WHORE in my opinion.I have 2gigs of ram and a athlon64X2 dual core CPU and vista sucked up 25% of my ram and 15% of my CPU just running the desktop and my normal startup programs like antivirus and firewall.
XP Pro uses less than 8% of my CPU for the same situation and about 8% of my ram.
