i got vista with a new laptop i got a few weeks ago and its not really that differant. i know piss all about comp's but it just seems the same apart from a few things.
its not bad but i wouldn't pay for it. also i havent had any problems with it.

it will be great once all the teething probs are sorted, ive not upgraded and have no intention in the near future, too many issues and to much overhead.

my friend recently built a rig based around an overclocked 6300 and a top of the line dx9 ati card, also clocked, he has no end of crashes and issues mainly down to ati driver compatability, but hes got vista for when it eventually gets some support..

guess what, hes now running xp-pro and it runs like lightning!

vista for me had ALOT of start up programs and crap... after i turned all of teh startup crap off, like other then OS and the stuff i really need it runs ok.

still gets alot of errors.... but the more serious ones (which involve having to restart) usually only start showing up after the pc's been on for a long time, or under alot of stress (alot of programs going)

EVERY 5 FUCKING YEARS, THIS BULLSHIT HAPPENS TO ME.

all the new OS means is, My computer will be exactly the same when I upgrade except I wont be able to find "my computer" or "recycling bin" for a week, I will have to get all new software, including an Autocad station for work. Sounds awesome!

I get sick of this moronic bullshit they cram up our ass, their selling points which are all total bullshit!

Protect yourself against this and that! SpyWAre!! Spam! Download music easier! Y2k! A camera comes installed on your computer!! In case you are such a fucking moron that you cant plug in a usb cable, even though this is supposedly YOUR computer!!! What do those people's videos look like? Them just sitting on the floor rolling in their own shit yelling "DDDDDAAAAAAAHH!". Makes rolling in your own shit one click easier!

Its like banks and their fraud protection they go on and on about, that noone ever needs to pay for, but I hear that shit 100 times a day.

I got vista...not a whole lot of problems...but I don't do very much either (cannabis.com ebay, email). I had autocad on my last pc, I've opted to not install it yet.... I tried to find a new pc with XP on it instead, but the only place that had them was TigerDirect, and refurbished not new...those were more expensive than the vista..i guess do to demand. So I opted for the cheaper route.....

In conclusion, if you do a bunch of stuff with your pc and it is still working okay, stick with your old one for awhile, till all the software makers catch up with vista. If you are like me and don't do anything that you rely on terribly and it just happens to take a shit-go ahead, it's not that bad, get the vista.

I've had it a few months.

    Bree

Edit: I've never had the illegal operation, must shut down message...YET, KNOCK ON WOOD

I did make the computer stop asking me about every Fuckin' thing I open though, as best as I could

I've checked it out and it looks ok but microsoft always has a bunch of screw-ups which we always pay for. I'll stick with XP and a Vista theme pack for now, until they get there bugs sorted out. And until some hacker get under those codes.
