XP Pro uses less than 8% of my CPU for the same situation and about 8% of my ram.
if true, i think we have a new record for lameness.

fuck all these giant companies who just want to make something flashy so people will buy it and they will make tons of cash for making a shitty product that everyone wants simply because of the hype.

I'll move to Vista when the whole digital rights feature is removed, if it doesn't budge then I'll keep an XP computer and Vista computer. I'll most likely use the Vista one for gaming, keep in mind by this time most games will be based on Vista. I'll keep my XP computer for all my other bits and bobs.

Windows is far more flexible than Mac. The way I see it Mac's are purely specialist computers used for Art and Music, anyone who buys one for anything else is a fool in my opinion. I'm a graphic designer myself (on the road to being one anyway) and I use Windows and find it perfectly fine to use. Although I have a friend who studies music at University and swears by Macs for that sort of thing.

In my opion I would tell everyone to wait atleased another year to upgrade to vista. Im a PC Tech and know my work very well, I myself will wait awhile for this upgrade if at all. If you remember back when XP first came out it had many bugs till the updates starting comming out a year later. I went to the Microsoft convetion and got the hole overview on Vista and to tell ya the truth nothing amazing about it. Just another bugy operating system, give it some time.

I'm dualbooting Vista and XP currently.

I do actually like the Aero theme a fair bit. I could give or take the "special effects", but the smoky glass is a nice neutral skin.

My favorite part is definitely the file manager. It's sooo improved! With breadbox navigation, customizable shortcuts (finally), and a whole shitload of flexibility in viewing files. I like it. Puts XP's to major shame.

But that's about it. I like Chess Titans. Shadow Copies is a cool idea that I really doubt I'll ever find myself using. The fast searching is very nice, but I rarely need it. Hmm.

Oh, yeah, the Flip-3D thing? It's dumb. And anyone saying it's a ripoff of Mac OSX for that (or anything else in general) is ridiculous. This is by and large Windows; refined, but hardly changed. It doesn't even aesthetically look like OSX.

On a related note, I am REALLY fond of the new Office 07 and the new ribbon design. (It would be nice if the ribbons were more customizable but since you can actually make your own tabs with a bit of work already, I'm sure it's only a matter of time.)

alot of uneeded security... i swear, at every turn it asks you for permission, even askes permission to ask permission lol... it kinda gets annoying, but you get used to it really quick.

erm, it has small compatibility issues with a wide arrange of programs... usually solved just by going to properties and checking off "run compatible with windows xp sp2." with one game so far (out fo quite a few) i have to right click and click run as administrator" to get the game to work right, but other then that, games really have no problems.

it has alot of bugs... they can be pretty annoying... i've told them in another thread (windows vista bugs), nothing really major tho, a simple restart takes care of 'em. there's been a few updates but not much... so i'd still hold off if you could o.0

Spoken from a pc user.. I'm a heavy PC gamer. Built from ground up always. Once I got on my dual g5 with 97 inches of screen all around me... There was NO comparison.. Tiger whips xp's/vistas ass AND its yesterdays OS. Leopard is expected to be popular out of the gate. So being a PC guy, I bow to the macs power, Yes specializing in video, audio, and graphic work, but why would you use a pc if you have a power horse. Good luck rendering on a pc.

    fuck it.

its over priced, requires most everyone to upgrade their hardware cause most people dont have that much of RAM or that fast of a CPU....and really the only difference ive noticed is looks and some random things that are 'neat'....nothing too...functional. Linux still wins out. But the reason i WONT be using it is because their extra 'security' layer. It looks suspicious and with their level of 'security', i wouldnt touch it or trust it. ever.

Vista looks good and there it ends its a total fucking nightmare on our new laptop, as soon as we can find out how we are getting it off our machine.
