I wasn't sure if this went in the hobby forum or here, but anyway: what's everyone think of windows vista? Anyone planning on going for the upgrade? It looks sweet on those big plasmas on tv, but I need some upgrades before I can give it a try. Discuss.

I'm going to wait for them to release Vista "Service Pack 2" before installing it. Had a beta copy running, looked like a pimped up XP Pro. Personally, I'm beginning to get ino linux. the newer distributions are very very good, compatiblity with lots and lots of hardware. And it's FREE!

Yea, I've heard of a lot of people moving to linux lately. I've tried it out a few times and it was ok. Still too much work for me to just sit down and play.

Have you heard of Mac OSX. It is nearly an exact copy of what is on my apple. Sorry I hate microsoft, but had to sell out for the 360.

Yea, if I could afford to have a mac I would. I just can't stand paying for software when there's so many freeware ones out there that work even better. If I ever hit the lotto or something, you bet your sweet ass I'd have a mac with me at all times. I just can't afford the software I need for work on a mac

They have gone down on price, my macbook didn't cost anymore than a mid range windows lap top. I'm not a huge mac fan, I have come to the conclusion all computers suck...

Screw Vista. They're going to have special built-in things in the OS itself which helps protect against software piracy and music piracy (not that it can't be thwarted... but it's bullshit nonetheless). Fuck that. I'll stick with FreeBSD, NetBSD, Gentoo Linux, and Windows XP. Though, Vista does LOOK nice, I don't like the restricting ideas.
