Wasn't marijuana originally banned in America because of Mexicans or Mexican immigrants that brought over marijuana and they claimed that was the reason for the violence? Ya this is correct. Mexicans were said to go into cities or towns and cause havoc after they smoked their devil weed. It was all racism and propoganda.

This is just how the south worked to criminalize cocaine. They blamed black people and the exact term was "cocaine crazed negro". They said blacks would either constantly masturbate or rape white women while under the influence of the drug.

Most of the original reasoning for prohibition is racism, politicians and upper class whites acting like one class of people can't handle drugs while another class (wealthy whites) can.
