But I did mean what I say, and I say what I mean. If I say what I don't mean, then people with think that I mean what I say that I don't mean. And in saying what I don't mean, it defeats the purpose of even saying what I mean in the first place, because then meaning what I say would become invalid.
Not to copy Patrick Henry with the quotes thing, but this thread reminded me of one by Alan Watts:
"There was a young man who said 'though
It seems that I know that I know,
What I would like to see
Is the I that sees me
When I know that I know that I know.'"

Yeah, I remember that quote... I was channeling his thoughts on that post

If one looks at every word and makes conscious effort to be honest. Then one can become aware of the unknown.
An example ...
I live in San Francisco. ---- this is not a true statement... I dwell in San Francisco... I LIVE whereever I AM..
"DO you believe in GOD" - the definition of belive.. what does believe MEAN? how is believing different than knowing...
Stopping to LOOK and disect and distill these everyday statements and questions will begin to AWAKEN ONE... JUST don't draw any conclusions... Consclusions are for those who wish to SLEEP...
This is just the begining to awakening... to be honest and break through concepts and false understandings..

Or you can JUST sit.. vipassana and DO NOT REACT to the MIND..
Then ONE will awaken.... then one can observe the MIND..

example 2
------I don't LIKE you----
many people think this staement means "I dislike you"...
BUt that is NOT true. "I don't like you" means, I don't like you... maybe "I love you... But the way THE unconcious mind works, IT jumps to conclusions... if somebody "does not like me" they must dislike me... and this conclusion is drawn so fast that 99.9% of the people can not see it happen.. THey are trapped in a sleepy world of duality....
But there is NO reason to draw a conclusion from "I dont like you"... it is what it is... maybe "Iloveyou" ???

You dont think that its fair to say that because humans have developed a language and used it for X amount of years, that it wouldn't produce a "norm" associated with certain phrases?
You can be the crazy one who tries to make a certain phrase mean something else for you,
or you can be part of the other 99% of the population who, when they say "i dont like you", really mean they dont friggen like you.
If someones says they dont like me, im not going to assume they love me... right?

Of course trying to make a certain phrase mean something 'for you' (whether or not the phrase is being used for what it was originally intended for in the english language) doesn't make sense. The concept goes both ways. When someone says, "I don't like you.", it is only a feeble glimpse into what they really think and feel, you can't be sure of the real reason for why they said it. Maybe they're just having a bad day, or maybe they're confused about their own emotions (who isn't at times?). In any case, do they really even know 'you' well enough to honestly say they don't like you? Does anyone? If not, why should you take what they say personally and let it offend you? If someone walks up to you and says, "I hate you, you piece of shit." and you assume that these words are true, and let them offend you, you're just letting that emotional poison seep right under your skin.
