Hey everyone. I was on probation for 6 months when i was 23 for loitering where drugs were used or held. my question is will it show up on any background checks after im off probation??? im just curious

probation is the sentence...what was your verdict?

For basic background checks ,if you were convicted yes. If pending, no.

If it's for a security clearance, you are shit out of luck. You have to list all charges, including juvenile. Depending on the level, that charge doesn't necessarily mean they'll deny application.

You could check if you can get your charges expunged, which is an avenue I would explore. Have a lawyer do it for you.

i was just written a ticket for loitering where drugs were kept i wasnt arrested or anything. it was just a misdeanor. cops gave me a ticket i went to court and the judge gave me 6 months probation with 2 random drug screens. if that makes a difference

Technically, they arrested you, they handed you a citation to appear in court. That will appear on your arrest record, which is separate from your criminal record. You can't be criminally charged without formally being arrested.

The fact that you were sentenced probation means you have been convicted of the charge. However that is very vague. There are cases upon successful completion of probation and drug screening, you could get the charge and arrest sealed. When a record is sealed, it exists, but access to the information is limited to the court, government, and law enforcement agencies. The other thing you want to eventually do to see if those charges qualifies for expungment after a certain time period, which means to strike off the record.

Regardless, this is something you should consult a lawyer to clarify the status and look at possible expungment. It's something you should try keep off your record regardless.
