So, I was listening to this local band called OhTocks (that's not the correct spelling, but that's how it's pronounced), actually, I'm still listening to them now, just a different song.

Anyway, on with my story. One of the lyrics is "my soul erates". The singer wrote the lyrics. Anyway, all the critical ones who like to make fun of the band because they only like what's "hip" such as emo or I think that was 2004-05, what ever the fuck it is now, whatever sub genre. Anyway, on with my story. The critical ones who like to make fun of them and their singers lyrics, singing style, etc... were like "that's not a word..." And apparently the singer was like "Yeah it is..." and they were all like "No... it's not." and all of the singers friends apparently were like "He's good with words, it's a word." and the critical ones were like "You can look it up in the dictionary..." and he did, and it wasn't there. Apparently he was like "Well, I was trying to mix together erased and aerates." and the critical ones were like "LOL, WTF? That makes no sense! Erased and aerates? Aerating is what you do to your garden soil..." and then the conversation apparently faded.

Anyway, the point is, I was listening to the song on their myspace and someone left a comment that was like "you made up a word, i suggest you define it for your fans" obviously mocking him. I laughed, because of the irony of the whole situation. Which I'm about to absolve:

Obviously he made up the word "erates" which after insisting it was a real word, he finally admitted to creating a mixture of erased and aerates. Which, happens to his soul apparently. BTW, this isn't an emo song, or anything sad or emoish, it's all angry, because the singer seems to be angry all the time, and admits he is, apparently he's quite proud of it, but anyway on with my story, where I'm going to absolve the irony in all of this.

Since obviously the critical ones have their mocking opinion on the lyrics, I have two non negative possible explanations.

He thought "irate" was spelled "aerate" (maybe he is in latin class, because ae is pronounced "i" and maybe he thought it was a latin word) and he meant to mix erased with irate, which would make sense. With a translation being "My soul is being erased (due to anger)?" or something of that nature, which would make sense. Or he could have honestly been mixing aerates (To supply with air or expose to the circulation of air) with erased, which I'm too high right now to try to make up some sort of meaning that he could have meant. I'm not into interpreting things though, but I thought it would be a good topic, that would start a good discussion and maybe you can come up with meanings for it?

Peace,
