The real problem Obama will have going against Hillary is MONEY, between her influence and Big Bills' influence, she will have a mighty warchest. The best he can hope for at this juncture is the vice presidency, and there are a few others in line for that job!

All of that stuff in the so-called "Obama truth" video is so easily refutable it's almost funny. But more than anything, it spins information to make him and his wife look bad when it's not any more sinister than anything else other senators and their wives or other well-paid professional people have done. The price of his house? That's what houses cost where he lives, and if you look at the prices Republican senators paid for their houses, you'll see far more expensive ones--and you'll find business deals with questionable people, too.

The salary paid to the Treehouse Foods CEO? Check out executive salaries sometime in Forbes or Fortune. That wasn't particularly remarkable. They execs at the technology company I worked for before going back to school made more than that, and our company wasn't nearly as profitable as Wal-Mart, either. Thousands of CEO salaries in the U.S. are astonishingly unjustified when profits are taken into account. But they tried to make it like Michelle Obama was the cause of that Treehouse CEO's executive salary or that Barack Obama was somehow wrong for having said in a speech that Wal-Mart, which is one of the most notorious corporate offenders for hiring low-wage workers and not paying them enough or offering health coverage. His statement that that's a problem that needs fixing is right on.

That video also took issue with Michelle Obama's salary. Check out the salaries of hospital VPs sometime. It's right in line with what they make, and the fact that she got an increase isn't a sign of evil inequity or greed. It's simply how they're compensated.

The claim that was funniest to me was the part about Barack's wife's hospital "charging uninsured minorities three and a half times more than insured patients." Again, this is not something that's a sign of that particular hospital's evil inequity. It's how all hospitals everywhere work. You can confirm this for yourself. Insured people pay discounted prices because their insurance companies have negotiated discounts for health care services. Uninsureds--and this isn't just minorites, although the video spin made it sound this way--are charged top-dollar full retail prices for health care. They're charged that because they don't have the benefit of insurance discounts. Notice I used the term "charged" because they don't actually pay those prices. They can't afford to pay them. No one without insurance can, and many who have insurance can't afford their smaller, discounted percentages, either. What happens is the hospitals write-off those unpaid amounts and take tax writeoffs and pass the remaining losses off to their insured patients through steadily rising prices. This is all part of the completely unfair, hospital-corporation- and insurance-company-driven healthcare system we have in this country. And it's one that Obama is wise enough to know needs changing.

For the uninformed out there, watch out for things like candidate-truth sites. They're a lot like the 911Truth site. Prepared for folks without enough discrimination or informaton to see through the spin and understand what the real facts are.

I don't think the right has a lock on putting up with political mud-slinging and lies. The left has gotten more than its share, too, dating back to the late 50s and 60s. There was mud slung against Adlai Stevenson and Kennedy and it's been slung both ways ever since. Bill and Hillary have certainly had plenty, too. It goes both ways. Always has. Always will. If anyone thinks one party has it worse than another, they've not been paying enough attention.

The same is true of a Republicans-get-persecuted-worse point that Bong30 keeps making and I keep correcting when I see it. He keeps saying when Bush and the Republicans won their elections, the Democrats alone cried voter fraud. But, of course, that's not true at all. There were Republican complaints of voter fraud after this latest Democratic Congressional victory in at least five states. In two Congressional races, that's why there were recounts and the results didn't come in for a couple of days. Those claims go both ways. Only uninformed partisans see it happening to just one side.

The truth is that pretty much everyone--politicians and non-politicians alike--has skeletons in his closet. Ever ponder what'd happen if you decided to run for office? It's scary to contemplate.
