the way i see it is that these fools are right in line with the books they represent. have you actually read these damn books? they are filled with elitism and intolerance, merely paying lip-service to peace and forgiveness. they are books written by violent men for violent times. sure you can find all sorts of rosy passages about peace and love, but the underlying message is one of control and punishment.

pat robertson and his ilk are just following in the long tradition of christian totalitarianism. as members of the "chosen" they see themselves as god's messengers and god has damned the unbelievers. their idea of earth mirroring heaven is to exclude all but the "faithful". to exclude them from all the good things that the earth has to offer, including breath itself.
