Howdy CO DE,

A mother plant ,doesn't need a 250 watt light source to thrive,I believe that 80 watts of floro,would be enough. Plus,you'd be wasting money by running the hps and generating excess heat. I hear that with proper care..mother plants can live for years.

As for taking a cutting,I believe that it's best to wait until the plant is at least one month old..and older would be better,because you'd have more sites to take cuttings from,and the plant will recover from the shock better.

Howdy CO DE,

I forgot to add,that actually,your mother plant should be reverted back to veg for one month,maybe less,before you take cuttings,the mother plant will actually be about five months old,not one..sorry about that. You can take cuttings after you find out which plant is a good female,then make one of the clones a mother plant..let the mother veg for a couple of months or more,so that it will be well established and stronger. You can then take cuttings from her and veg them for about a month,before putting them into flower,thereby cutting off one months veg time.

the alternative is not keep a mother, and use the 250w as a grow on area only. take clones of plants under the 250w hps 18/6hr and clones them, then when the one cloned off go into the flowering room/cupboard, the newly struck clones then become the next grow-ups under the 250w. gets more efficiency out of the 250w hps.
