The stupid leech commercial
Have you guys seen that anti-drug commercial where everybody in this school is sticking leeches on themselves, and they're trying to compare that to smoking pot? How fucking dumb is this commercial? Any ten-year-old can tell you why sticking leeches on yourself would not be fun, and why smoking pot would. The main reasons are that smoking pot gets you high, and it tastes good, and it doesn't require that a slimy creature puncture your veins and suck your blood. If these idiots are actually dumb enough to consider smoking pot equivalent to sticking leeches on yourself, then maybe they deserve their dull sober lives.

No, I wouldn't do something like that. I do more dumb things when I'm sober than high, and most of the time it's by accident!

The thing I have noticed, is when I was a developing teenager, I wanted to rebel, and do stupid stuff. I was growing and learning, plus it was fun, so I find that if a teenager is sober or not, they still do stupid things. Am I wrong? I don't think so.
We all make mistakes, but that's how we learn. Now the people in this commerical have learned not to stick leaches to themselves. I'm sure they'd learn the same lesson sober, and yes, there are sober people out there THAT dumb.
I voted Yes by the way.

It isn't wasn't targeted about weed, it would be a great anti-fad commercial.

There are tons of things we do on a daily basis that don't really make any logical sense, but we do them anyways just because everybody else does. We shake hands, we say "mice" instead of "mouses", we hike up our pants if our ass crack is showing, we refrain from picking our noses in front of others, we say "bless you" when somebody sneezes, we wear matching socks, and on and on and on. These are all fads that have been going on for a long time, but nobody has a problem with them because they're not hurting anybody. There's nothing wrong with doing these things just to fit in and not look like a complete weirdo.
That's not to say we should base all our behavior on what other people are doing. There's plenty of room for individuality and uniqueness, but if we don't share at least some things in common with our peers then it becomes very difficult to really connect with them. Choosing to go along with a fad is not something that you should be ashamed of. That's your choice to make as an individual, and if you find it makes you happy, by all means go ahead and do it. If you fall for the "reject all fads" fad, you're going to find yourself quite alienated.

everyday activity isnt a fad. a fad is something that becomes inexplicably really popular all of a sudden and it fades out just as quick. language and common decency are not fads. neither is most every day activity.

What about "frog gigging"?
I heard this on TV once that hickish folks hit up their swamps, sharpen a nice wooden stick, and stab them son 'o bitches, fry them up, and eat them up.
