    Saving Seeds Question

I'm curious. When I purchase weed, it often has seeds in it. ((Obviously. Or maybe if you buy really good weed, not so obviously)) Im just wondering if anyone has ever saved seeds from their purchased weed and had a successful grow? I wouldn't know the strain, but it's still marijuana.. so any ideas/advice? Would you recommend just saving some money and buying from a seed bank, or do you think saving seeds is an okay idea?

    Howdy Encatuse,

The thing about bag-seed is,is that it's not usually stabilized,it has a tendency for alot of genetic drift and may not stand up to stress very well either, which would cause the plants to go hermie on ya. I have grown from bag-seed,and that is what I experienced. When I grew from good, stabilized, high quality genetics, the difference in quality was like night and day. The yields and potency of good seeds is much better than that of bag-seed for the most part, however,it's possible to say,buy some really good bud and have good results from the seed.

I'd say that you'd be much better off buying seed from a seed bank, don't forget, that growing is alot of time, money and risk..it may as well be for good ,reliable seeds. Good seeds can be bought for relatively little money, for under 50$,in most cases.

    Have a good one...Torog

    Howdy Encatuse,

That's good news and I'm glad that I could help ya ! After all, unless you're rich, you should be investing your time, energy and money, into some worthwhile seeds with good, stabilized genetics.

    Saving Seeds Question

One good thing about bag-seed is there free (sorta) and it can be a good first grow for learning, but, it does have drift which can be hard to deal with.

    Howdy llamaman,

Yup..it does make for a good, fairly cheap lesson, and also helps to work out any problems with the grow-room set-up,and one can tweak the grow-room,before using the good seeds.

    Saving Seeds Question

I have grown some seeds from a bag-o-schwag indoors and the results were crappy because of the lighting I guess. stringy small sativa buds. I also grew some bag seeds outdoors and it was stinky skunky grade A+ good shit. The sun is way more powerful than a grow light. Remember that good seeds for indoor growing take many generations to make. They are bred to handle lower light intensity and give a higher yield, etc.
