    Cannabis and driving

As a new driver i was wondering what the laws are about cannabis and driving, my rule is if i can feel i am stoned i wont drive.

But what does the law say because sometimes i stop feeling stoned about 1 and a half hours after a joint. there must be a cut off point with the law, where is the point? how many hours after a spliff are you leagaly allowed to drive?

There is no set amount of time. If you are pulled over and you look really stoned and you can't control yourself, you could get a DUI. I've never heard of anyone getting a DUI for marijuana because first the officer has to prove that you are impared by marijuana at that point in time which is pretty hard, but in theory if you are driving while under the influence of any drug that impairs your driving abilities you can get a DUI.

I personally find driving while stoned to be pleasureable and not really too hard at all. When i first started smoking however it was a little more dificult to judge depth perception so it was a little tricky, but now it is just fun.

Im not telling you to go out and drive stoned, its just my 2 cents on the subject.

well its against the law to smoke so I'm going to guess that they havent made laws for it like they have for drinking and driving (I'm assuming you live in the US , sorry if I'm wrong). I would avoid driving while you're high and since you're a new driver you might want to wait a few hours after you feel it wear off just to be safe.

I know that if you are so much as even caught with Marijuana in my state that you automatically lose your license for a month.

However, if you are caught driving stoned...I believe you get charged with a DUII and lose your license for 6 months and have to do a bunch of shit.
Check out your own state laws.

    Or be extra careful .

There is no legal time limit. If you look stoned, and have the so called "symptoms" of being stoned, then you get a DUII. Doesn't matter when you smoked, if it's in your system. I have a friend get a DUII 8 hours after smoking a bowl just because it was in their system and they had symptoms of being high. It pretty much probably depends a lot on the cop and a lot on your attitude.

There is no way to prove DUI on pot because a test will show the substance in your blood for 35 days after you smoke it,,,essentially you could of smoked it 2 weeks ago...

I would trust my driving on pot but not anyone elses...

if you smoke weed you can get a dui anytime day or night it doesnt matter if you're stoned or not. now before you call bullshit on me, let me explain.

it happened to me. i was cruising back from a buds house , rolled through a stop sign , a fiver pulled me over and thought i was stoned because my eyes were red. well i wasnt stoned, but it didnt matter , cause officer dickfuck took me to the hospital for a piss test , which i promptly failed, congratulations, because you smoke weed we the US GOVT think that you're driving under the influence if you have thc in your system, which we all know can stay for a long time.

    so yeah , be careful.
