a real noob who needs realth stealth cab plans

u can SCROG as high as u want. as for lighting, if u have the money for it, a 600w metal halide would be ideal for veg and a high wattage hps for flowering. im no expert but i try to help lol.

well hydro is way better than soil if u can afford it. and instead of two 250w hps just get one 600w hps. ive never grown scrog so i really cant tell u how high u want ur plants to be. do u have a way to make a clone chamber? if so then do that. but if ur a first time grower i wouldnt recomend hydro, i hear it can be confusing and what not. anyways good luck and keep us posted!

ok so now i am thinking 1 400 or 600 hps depending on there cost. and what i can find. so now i need to know how much of my 70" hight to convert to a scrog grow and how much to use for cloning. scince this is my first grow i am gfoing to go dirt. so the next advise i am going to need is

    1. scrow and clone hights (max of 70")

    2. temp control.

    3. odor control

any help on this would be great.

I use parts of a dryer. Check out the thread in my sig. But I'm assuming stealth means you don't want it to look like a grow op, so maybe that won't work.

i would say u want at least a 3 feet mayb 4 to work with depending on where the base of the plants is going to be, a 400 will be more then enough, a 600 will burn unless used with a vented hood. the veg area doesnt need to be as big maybe 2 feet or 3 with the mother. and that extra foot can be used for clones. good fans to use... get a vortex high cfm fan there quite and put a carbon scrubber on and thats it. thats pretty mUch a full set up.

Hey man looks like you're on the right track and have done some research. I'm not an experienced grower but I have had a chance to make a few mistakes building my cab so hopefully I can help you out.

You can use CFLs or T5s for the mother/clone chamber. CFLs are going to be significantly cheaper so I would use those. The clone chamber could be about 2' and that would leave almost 5' for the scrog chamber. I think that would work well if you keep a short "bonsai mom" ... something well documented here and on icmag now that you know what to search for.

To start clones, that's something you should probably do a little more searching on. Some people like jiffy pellets, some like rockwool, some use soil directly.

Ok for the fan let me say this. I thought I would save money on the fan so I tried out a 6" inline fan that claims to move 250cfm. Met with any resistance it would slow right down and apparently they are for keeping air moving along a duct and not doing the moving themselves. I didn't know that before and now I've ended up buying a Vortex anyway. Till then I had to keep my cab doors open with a fan blowing into it. That's with a 250W HPS in a cool tube ... and it's not summer yet.

You'll need a good fan in order to keep a 400W light cool and Vortex are what people say are the most quiet. Most threads I've read result in the person buying a Vortex in the end anyway so you could very well save money by getting one up front. Also look at it this way: Vortexes have a 10 year warranty. If you spend $200 on a fan that will last at least 10 years that's only $20 a year, assuming you throw it out after 10 years. That's less than $1 every two weeks.

With a fan it comes down to 3 things: soft volume, price, and effectiveness. You can choose any 2 of those and find a fan to meet your needs. You need soft volume and effectiveness so you have to compromise on the price. If price is more important you are going to have to sacrifice one of the others, as a tough a decision as that may be. You can get a squirrel cage blower for half the price of a Vortex but I hear those are loud.

I'm not a Vortex salesman I promise, just someone who wishes they had the cash for a vortex at the beginning. If can work it out in your budget I highly recommend not cheaping out on the fan like I tried to do. :twocents:

I built my own scrubber following bodom's design: http://boards.cannabis.com/growroom-...on-filter.html ... I use the silica gel kitty litter in mine because it's cheaper and it does work well. If you have the time I recommend you build your own for around $20 and then use any cash from your scrubber budget on the fan.

so now all i need to know now is the best soil mix and the size and type of pots to use. since this is going to be my first grow i am going to use soil.

    my grow area is 30" X 19" X 36"

i am doing a scrog. with cindy 99.

i also need to know how many plants i can grow. i would like to grow 3 if that is possible.
