5 seconds at the most. When I was younger I would try to hold it in as long as I could, but it didn't get me any more stoned, it just made me a little dizzy from lack of oxygen to the brain.

I've found that many small hits work better than a few enormous ones, too. Your lungs can only absorb so much, so when you take really big hits, you're in effect just wasting your smoke.
