First timer! planning stages!

hey yall, i've never grown before, and i was looking at this hydroponics kit, at i was wondering whether it was a good choice for a first grow.

Also, why do they pretend it for vegetables to much? the advertised in cannibis culture for christ sake. Will the directions work for weed all the same? for my soil growing i'm planning on starting some afghani, because it was supposedly durable and good for my southwestern ohio climate. i need a good idea for a strain of hydro, and if you have any advice for a better soil strain, or just advice in general, please post.

i dono about room for the roots, doesnt look very wide for weed.
