What's up everybody:thumbsup: ? So I've been thinking about this years up comeing grow and think I'm gonna build a green house. Basicly I want to try to keep every thing out of my house this year so the old lady don't bitch about the mess. I'm thinking it's gonna be 6'L X 6'W X 6'H with a gable style roof.
Does any body have any experiance with doing anything like this. I was thinking about useing 3/4" gravle for the floor. Any idea of the best location, should it be directly in the sun all day or should it be in the shade in the morning and sun in the afternoon? I'm not sure what I want to use to frame it or wrap it in so any suggestion welcome:clap: .

I'm building at least one hoophouse this spring.

If it gets part shade, I would actually recommend AFTERNOON shade (hottest part of the day) to help control temps a bit.

I'm only using mine for veggies as it is virtually impossible to lock a greenhouse effectively!

Thanks Stinky thats pretty cool. I'll definately give that a shot, looks easy enough. Have you ever grown in one before? It's new to me. How early can I start my plants from seed do you think, I'm in southern New England if that helps. Hey thanks again .

LOL the same time I start mine, here in Southern New England!!!
I think the rule is that a greenhouse gives you an extra month of growing season for other hot weather crops like maters. So if you want to be 'planting out' normally on May 1st (frost-free date), you'd instead put the plants in the greenhouse in early April.
What I plan to do with the tomatoes is start them under lights and have a high/low thermometer in the greenhouse to see whn I have a solid week of night temps above freezing, and then put them out.
I think starting seeds in mid to late February will give you plenty of time to get them off to a good start.
One thing I've read is that a heat mat under the pots can give you a lot of wiggle room in terms of low temps. Warm roots=more tolerance for cold.
One last thing to keep in minds is that cold conditions make the plant more susceptible to stress from low pH. So make sure your soil is PERFECT... lots of nice leaf humus.

No shit! I'm really close actually, connecticut, about five min. from agawam. So I should be able to germinate indoors late march and move out side early april if all goes well. should give me quite a jump. I have quite the seed selection I've collected over the winter so I'm definately going to be experimenting seeing how this will be the first time for the green house thing:greenthumb: .

Shit one of my dear friends lives in agawam! They are ALWAYS out toolin' around Lake Congamond oir whatever big assed lake is there in her husband's bassboat. He's a total bass addict. It's pathetic!!! All that time wasted catching fish when he could be growing the devils weed like the rest of us, lol!!!

I tried to mail you but would'nt go through for some reason. Just checked out your grow log and it looks good. I had some Papya about a year and it was probly some of the best I had todate. I use to hang out around that lake alot when I was a kid. Not so much fishing any more, have other hobbies now like working lol, my kids, and of course my weed. It's good to know that there's other growers in my area.

that addy is good, redlined is with a d on the end... i've had a couple complaints it didnt work when people typed redline250 instead!!!

there's enough of us around! I imagine it's going to be a lot tougher down your way to do a greenhouse because of population density... be really careful!

Guy's I'd really recommend that you not use seeds for an outdoor show... I've tried this a number of seasons ago (when I couldn't get the clones) and I found that it's almost impossible to sex and remove the males in time to not fert a bunch of the females. The other thing is that you want to use the space efficently, and why would you want to use a signifcant percentage of your space for plants your going to nuke down the road? Be smart, use the clones first! Best of luck!

I hear what your saying dude but at this time that's not looking possible unfortunately . Besides I'm only going to use the green house for the very early part of the season then everything will get transplanted to various locations around my area:thumbsup: . Good looking out though, thanx.
