i read it works, i read its safe, but i also read its bad.....so plug her in outside somewhere and see what happens, worst case senerio is you blow the bulb but i dont think that will happen but dont take the chance unless you feel its worth it.

A 600 HPS is an S106 type lamp or bulb,it's not meant to be used with a 1000 watter. The 600 is 5.7amps the 1000 is more than that! You could damage the ignighter in the ballast! The risk of fire is great! That bulb is not made to draw that many amps!

the bulb will burn out real quick. I've seen it where a guy kept installing 400W HPS in the yard lights and they kept burning out. I took a look at the fistures...1000Watts. He bought 400Watt lamps and stopped popping off new lamps.

I garbagepicked a 750 MH HID that was a tennis court style light in rolled steel with SAG glass and a faceted reflector. After about 3 weeks it stopped fully lighting the bulb. After much troubleshooting with tech support from Graybar Electric, Grainger, etc. it was eventually determined that the capacitor had failed not the ballast. Now because this setup 750w is not common everything associated was $$$, the bulb, the ballast and the capacitor. So I gave up and scavanged the reflector and the mogul base for an MH ballast kit I purchased. Long story short, HID is not a mix and match situation.
