Changing the light level in dreams.
Sorry for the double post I put this in the wrong place...
Is there an official dream thread going, I hope no-one minds me starting another one if there is.
I am well into exploring the dream world, and using cannabis as an aid to induce astral projection during sleep. I try to abstain from indulging in sexual activities as much as I can as I beleive this also helps.
Anyway, I'm not going to get into that now. I had an interseting experience last night in a dream Has anyone seen the film, oh I can't remember what its called, but it explores the idea of lucid dreaming. The film is all made with actors, but they edit it to look like animation.
In it they say that you cannot change the light level in a dream, and that this can often alert your mind to the fact you are dreaming and from there you can influence what happens in the dream. Well, this has happened to me twice, once before i saw the film and once shortly after. Both times I had a lucid dreaming experience.
Both times though, before i tried to change the level of light, which was dark, I was not aware i was dreaming. However, rather interestingly, last night i started to become lucid in a dream. THis often happens when I look into a mirror and the reflection of my face looks somewhat different. I was in the bathroom and this time the light was on. I had become aware I was dreaming and decided to test this by turning the light off, only this time by contrast the light actually did go off, and I then started to become convinced again that i was not actually dreaming after all! It wasn't until i woke up and remember that I realised now that it is wrong to say you cannot change the light level in a dream, it seems as though in fact you actually can after all.

I'm pretty sure I've had many dreams where I've turned lights on and off... I also dream in color, which I assume you guys do as well?
My mom told me she always dreams in black and white, and was surprised when I said my dreams were in color, as she was under the impression everyones dreams were in black and white.

The film your talking about is Waking Life. Basically, the movie is of a collection of philosophers, most of which teach at the University of Texas (at least five I think), different essays and such works.
StrivingLife.net » Waking Life Script with Revisions Is the script. If you are into any sort of philosophy, I recommend you read this.
The first time I saw this movie, I was stoned. At a few points I was tripping out too hard. The theory "Free Will and Physics" changed a lot of how I viewed the existence of free will.
I've tried, and succeeded in attaining lucidity in my dreams, I just rarely can hold onto it. It's something I'm working on right now... As for abstaining from sexual activity, shit man, I dunno lol.[SIZE=\"1\"] ??The most exquisite paradox? as soon as you give it all up, you can have it all.

I have had a few in my time, always enjoyable. train your mind to do regular "reality checks" meaning, every hour or so, take a quick look around and make sure your not dreaming, checking time, usually does it. something to with time in dreams, im to stoned to remember exactly.
just because you know your awake dont stop doing the checks, it conditions your mind to do it reguarly, meaning you do it in dreams, thats how i do it.
once you realise your dreaming, thats when the dream becomes lucid and you can control it.
