I rather doubt the nation is in danger of having spanking outlawed, and I can tell you straight out that there's never going to be a referendum vote on the subject from state to state. Do a little more reading on this subject when you're not feeling so "exclamatory" and you'll find that nearly everyone with training in pediatrics and child psychology agrees that there are better ways to discipline children than hitting them, despite any great benefits you might have derived personally from the practice. Most reasonable people recognize that spanking doesn't necessarily constitue abuse, but child protective authorities generally agree that hitting/beating with objects like belts and paddles and hairbrushes often crosses the line.
I do believe that it should not be used as an all around punishment for anything that a child or teenager may do wrong. I'm just saying that BACK IN THE DAY,it was,and still should be to present time! There are more and more disrespectful children growing up these days to that run their parents lives instead of the parents running the childs life. This is due to the fear of a child calling 911 on the parent just because they got that ass torn up! A swat or 2 with a belt is no worse than with the open hand on the bottom.I said nothing about using switches, paddles or hair brushes. There is a certain age to me when and if a child should be spanked or not.I've used other techniques, such as taking toys and cherrished items, and making them earn them back! Making sure they understood why they were taken! Time-out works well, too! They just need a stern hand every once in awhile.
