parents and religion, when you're different

I read the Satanic Bible way back when (about the time I was booted out of Catholic school ) and do admit that portions of it made a lot of sense. But, then again, it was pretty much all common sense to me anyway. My conclusion was that I did not need Christianity to tell me how to be a good person, nor did I need Satanism to tell me to follow common sense. I could do these things on my own without subscribing to another's code of conduct. Following my own instincts made me a far better person than simply adhering to a set of rules imposed on me by others.

My take on your situation Samwhore, is this: When I was reading the Satanic Bible, and the Necronomicon, etc, it was largely due to rebelling against the crap I was being force fed in Catholic school. It sounds like you come from a pretty strictly religious family and my guess is that your interest in Satanism is fueled by the same fire that fueled mine. But go back and read the Eleven Satinic Rules and the Nine Satanic Sins. Do you really need a religion to tell you these things. Calling it "Satanism" will just create a lot of friction in your family. Calling it "common sense", however, will go a lot further towards preserving your relationship with your parents.

That's just my 2 cents, and I may be way off, but think about it anyway.

Yes, to straighten one thing out, my family is not religiously strict at all. So im not doing this to rebel, I was never forced to believe anything and came to this religion on my own

Well Sam I am relieved that it is the Anton LaVey way of thinking.

I have read everything that Lavey put out. I have owned all of his books and several other books about him.

Lavey basically scoffs organized religions and some of their teachings He is a great read.

Ask her to read the "Satanic Bible". Just so she knows there is no human sacrifices. It might reassure her to know that you are not conjuring demon creatures bent on earths enslavement.

Your mom loves you. I am sure you will get this worked out some how.

Oh, ok, it was just a theory of mine. But what about my point of this being more a matter of common sense than a religion? I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just curious. Understand that it's been 20+ years since I read the Satanic Bible so my memory is in concept only, not the fine details. Is there something else that I'm missing that would qualify your beliefs as an actual religion and not just common sense?

I hear ya, satanism isnt as bad as its cracked up to be though.

Satanism (the actual religion, not no bullshit) is simply indulgence instead of abstinance.

I went round and round with my when I was younger also, but in the end it resulted in me telling her to "fuck off, cause I dont believe in god."

Yes, but its also believing that God is the true "prince" of evil and that people who enforce and inflict religion are evil

2 things i live my life by....

    1. fuck god(and anyother higher powers)
    2. fuck god and anyother higher powers...

but i do belive in some sort of "creator" personaly.... im not sure of what you should do sam.... seeing as how i was raised to pick my own religon, because my mom got draged to every church you could think of as a child, and even after all that, she still cant find a religon, as of now, shes studying a bit of the buhdist religons, all churches are fucked up in my mind... i mean my EXs parents and family are HARD CORE cristians... and her dad is schitzophrinic-split personality, and bi-polar... her sister is the same plus some brian damage.... and the way i see it... if there really was a god, her dad wouldnt be like that, and her sister wouldnt be like that... my ex wouldnt of had to be raped by 3 different guys in under 5 years(one of the guys raped her for quite a few years...) her dad wouldnt of abused her.... and her older siblings wouldnt be crack heads and meth heads.... i wouldnt be depressed if there was a such thing as god... and "god" wouldnt of taken my grandpa away from me... my parents wouldnt be divorced... so even if there is a god... i once agin agree with slipknot... and i say i hate god....

if i said i was a nazi, people would get mad
I think i know what your on about, correct me if i'm wrong tho.

Do you believe in racial hygeine? Meaning you think each race should keep child bearing/rearing and such within itself? example, you think a black couple having children is good, but like say, a black-asian couple having a child is bad?

correct me if i'm wrong tho, its just when you said you believed in somthing people might find racist, this sprang to mind.
