parents and religion, when you're different
Well without stepping into religion and personal beliefs I will tell you there is no way a serious Christan parent is going to be okay with this.
They conflict with each other. I would just keep your way secret. It is less of a pain in the ass that way.
But maybe some others have ideas.
Good Luck you are going to need it.

I think you must have misunderstood what I was asking her. I didn't say that all Christians were Catholic. Everyone with even the most basic understanding of religion knows that.

So are they really not OK with your believing what you want to believe? I hope my son will believe whatever he wants, including being religious if it makes him happy. I doubt that'll happen, though. He's been raised very freely, and I doubt he'll suddenly change over to serious formal religion.

If they were okay with it I would have told them and this thread would have never been here

I think you might be referring to people who make a big deal of calling themselves "Christian" like it sets them apart somehow and makes them better? I'm not sure because I can't hear your tone of voice and because I was raised so religiously freely that I don't always fully comprehend how more formal religion affects folks, but I do see plenty of chest-puffing, prideful "Christians" around here if that's what you were referring to. I may be a Unitarian, but I do live in the buckle of the Bible belt.

Exactly Birdgirl. Like the people who moved in next door to my parents house. My wife and I had gone over to visit and as we got out of the car they came up to introduce themselves. Within the first 5 minutes of meeting them they had made a point of of telling us they were "Christians" and asked if we were too. We explained we were Godless heathens and now they don't have much to say to us anymore. In contrast, the Muslim family that lives on the other side are some of the nicest people you could ever want to meet. Just goes to show it's a person's character, not their religion, that makes them a good or bad person.
