Indictments aren't what the owners are concerned about, although another site did get taken down and several people, apprently including some of the owners, got busted for enabling hookups, which is why we don't allow hookup talk or email addresses in threads. They simply feel strongly about keeping it cannabis-only, which makes sense since this is a cannabis site. Don't make that out to be more than it is.

He researched and experimented with the therapeutic and spiritual benefits of psychedelic drugs. Another interesting guy was Ken Kesey. He was pretty much the West Coast version of Timothy Leary, although the two didn't care for each other much.

Ken Kesey was the guy who wrote the book One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest. He was part of a U.S. Army experiment where they would test a certain unmentionable substance (also enjoyed by Ken Kesey ) on willing volunteers hoping to find something they could use to fuck with the enemy's head. Kesey liked this unmentionable substance and promoted it on the West Coast. He had these legendary parties, funded largely by his book, and it was at these parties that the Grateful Dead got their start.

Anyone interested in the late '60's hippy culture, complete with unmentionable substances and psychedelic music, should read the Tom Wolfe book "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test". It's all about Ken Kesey, his wild parties, the San Francisco hippy scene, Kesey's meeting with Leary, etc. It's a true story but extremely entertaining. I'd consider it a must read for anyone on this board.

Don't get me wrong here. I know we're not going to prevent people/kids from trying various substances. But the reason we try and maintain the cannabis-only policy is to keep folks concentrating on the gentler substance this board is about--and to make sure that subjective interpretation is at least limited to cannabis, which is pretty tame compared to some of the others that come up (and get taken down) here from time to time. Hope that makes sense!

There is some contradictions here e.g. user names and avatars that
promote drugs other than cannabis. I know the site wants to
maintain a certain degree of it being "only a cannabis site" but I
think when other substances are mentioned in an un-promotional
manner some of these rules should be flexible. With that said I
hope bringing attention to my user name doesn't warrant a ban.
