    Crohns Disease and bud

    Hello All,

I was diagnosed with IBD/Crohns when I was 14 years old and have had it since. I have tried every legal drug prescribed to me and have also had two surgeries to resection my colon. There seems to be a new medicine known as Remicade that is now out but Im really not trying to have someone inject me with mouse antibodies. To make a long story short I smoked bud back in grammar school but had stopped until I was in my twenties when me and a buddy went out and I smoked a joint with him and BAM! my pain and bloating had ceased. I have been smoking ever since. My fiancee refuses to believe what I tell her and insists that I just want to get high. Hell to be perfectly honest I dont think I get high anymore as its not the focus of my smoking. If anyone out there has Crohns then you know this disease is a real bitch to deal with. The pain, diahrrea, blolating, etc. all ceases when I get the THC in my bloodstream, so to answer any questions as to its medicinal value, yes it does calm the intestines and inner GI system by stopping the spasms of the colon and such. I also notice that nicotine does help as well but the bud is what really calms it and I can lead a somewhat normal life. I dont know the medical long term effects of the bud but I will tell you this, as long as it provides me some relief to Crohns I will be smoking it...LOL. People just dont know what its like to have a 24 hour stomach ache you cant get rid of.

just wanted to bump this thread a little. i have been told by doctors that i have chron's before. i have had 2 colonoscopy's, an egd, and a pill endoscopy. i love getting high. but i am an ncaa athlete and there are random testings and i fear testing positive and then losing my scholarship. i was wondering how often marijuana needs to be used to help chrons. the most i usually get high is once a week.

If anyone else has Crohns I would love to hear from you, I only know one person who has Crohns and she is an older lady (about 65) but does not smoke, shes actually taking the same meds I was taking 20 years ago, some medical advancement huh? 20 years later and still no cure, what the hell is really going on? Crohns patients reach out to me, lets talk.

No...I don't. I wish you the best man. I have another gastrointestinal 'disorder'. I supposedly have a mystery allergy is the crap they've settle on. I've been to the alergy specialist and doctors and I've tracked my foods etc. Anyway, they think it's an alergy. Basically, after hours of stomach cramping and pain, I do the bowel movement thing, like my body is ridding of evil (always diahrea) and immediatly start hiving all over, then I go into
anaphylactic shock...and that sucks and sends me to the hospital sometimes. I've learned to deal with it in ways, but I find that if I keep cannabis in me, I don't have the problem. Sorry for the details...

Have you been checked for Celiac Disease? I have it, and many of the classic symptoms are similar to yours. Over 95% of people sick with Celiac, which is two to three million in the U.S. (1 in a hundred people), don't know that they have it. It's one of the most undiagnosed and misdiagnosed diseases in medicine.

Aso, are you really serious that if you have marijuana in you, there are no symptoms at all? If so, that's pretty amazing.

Hey man I've got Crohns disease too, and in fact I just logged on to find out about medical marijuana. I actually just had to take a day off work because I had a bad reaction to some medicine I started about a week ago, that is Prednisone. It felt like my heart beat was very weak, I couldn't sleep at all, my eyes were bloodshot and because it lowers your immune system I got a cold. After reading up on WebMD about some side effects, such as heart failure, I'm sure as hell never going to go back on that stuff! I still feel a little weird right now, I had to go to urgent care last night but I should be fine in a few days.

Anyway, I rarely smoke because I have a commercial drivers license so as part of federal law my work performs random drug tests. However, I'm thinking about learning a little bit more about how to pass those and taking the chance because after taking some medicine that could very well have killed me I think its worth it. I use to smoke all the time when I was younger, so I'm well aware of the side effects, but they are certainly nothing like what I've had to deal with this past week!

I smoked about a month ago and couldn't believe how great I felt, I always have a hard time keeping an appetite, but just a little smoke and I eat easily twice as much as I normally will with no stomach pains. I have been curious as to how it can help long term with Crohns, and I think I'm going to go ahead and try it out.

I live in California, where medical marijuana is sort of legal, (only by state), but when I asked my doctor he kind of laughed it off like I wasn't serious. I might bring it up again with a little bit more of a serious tone and see what he says, but I have a feeling most doctors want to stay away from that contraversory.

About how long have you been smoking? Have you asked your doctor about medical marijuana or is that not legal in your state?
