First of all our form of government doesn't suck. It has been pretty damn successfull for the last couple hundred years and laid down a good framework for people to become successfull themselves. The people currently in power may be incapable of performing their duties, they may be ignorant to the issues most Americans are interested in, and they may have totaly fucked up Iraq, but that remains to be seen. Ten years form now we can take an objective look at things and how they turned out in the end. Who knows, 50 years from now W could be one of our greatest Presidents. It all depends on if he can fix things in Iraq and get back to fighitng the true enemy which is the ideaology of Wahabism and other militant Islamic groups like Hezbolah. FDR sent thousands of Jap's to "Internment Camps" and he is recognised as one of our greatest presidents ever. I personally don't like Bush I think it was a mistake to invade Iraq, but what do I know. For all I know they had weapons of mass destruction and were willing and able to sell them to militant islamic groups and they managed to get get them out of the country into Syria before the U.S. invaded. Time will tell.

People dislike America becuase we are brash, self-confident, take no bullshit, winners. People always love to hate who's on top. Jealous of America's wealth, power, and influence on the rest of the world. Many American's are lazy, fat, and stupid, but so are a lot of French people.

I myself would like to live in the south of Italy, Calabria, or somewhere in the Carribean(sp?) like Costa Rica(just kidding). I am a fisherman and I love warm weather and indigo blue water.

You should come try some of our sport fishing down here...Ill make a "Tico"(Costa Rican) out of ya...

:twocents: I read all these threads and have to say that when America was an isolated country, not meddling in world affairs, we were critisized for complacency when Germany went on conquest in WW1. Since then, we have been "allies" to like minded countries who recognize that not every nation or leader is a benevolent selfless rule or impose grave injustices against their own people...okay, let's shred the NATO Accord and let America pull out of every petty conflict and redirect it's focus on bettering the lives of the Tax paying Americans...fuck world opinion, because when it comes down to it, the rest of the world depends on our our money, troops and equipment...time for the US to outsource this "World COP" mentality and take care of #1...You Canadians & Mexicans are part of North America, but that's where it stops!!! People are assholes anywhere. There are assholes in the UK, the US, Australia, Sweden, Iceland, Russia, Kenya, and even Canada for fuck's sake.

When people make generalized assumptions about my country and my people based on our government's decisions, then that shows plain ignorance.

I love the USA, the people, the land, but I (as well as 70% of Americans) don't agree with what Bush is doing. This is his last chance to "fix" Iraq, and we all know he will fail. Hopefully in '08, there will be a better president. I think Barack Obama is looking good. Even if he is Democrat and conservative, he seems very level headed and steady handed.

My point is, all of you outside the US blasting us for what GWB has done, just remember- your country may be at risk for his mistakes, but the American people are dying for it in greater numbers than yours, due to elevated troop count, and higher risks for terrorist attacks on our country. Be thankful that you aren't spied on, have your mail randomly searched without a warrant, have your phone calls tapped, and prosecuted heavily for smoking a J.

I see the point of war.. its an excuse to take something that wasnt even theirs in the first place.. the same has happened in every corner of the world...since the terrorists (western power) begun. think about it. from one bad thing to another..
